In God's Hands, Stories of Central American migrants
In God's Hands
2010-2016
What drives a person to leave everything behind? Hundreds of thousands of Latin Americans risk their lives each year trying to reach the United States. Crossing the border represents a departure from the poverty, violence and lack of opportunity in Central America. For many, this journey is not a matter of choice; they leave in order to survive. The money has reduced us to the level of goods", reflects Father Alejandro Solalinde, who runs a migrant shelter in Ixtepec, Oaxaca. I've been working on this project since 2010 when I traveled from Honduras to Arizona. I have ben going back to Mexico and Central America every year since in order to document the changes and consequences of migration in the region.
